Pakistan wins world under 18 snooker championship 2017. Its a great news for Pakistani snooker fans. Muhammad Naseem Akhtar wins his maiden world snooker championship title. Naseem Akhtar defeated Chinese player Peifan Lei by 5-3 in the final.
Its a tremendous victory for Naseems Akhtar as at a point in game he was down 1-3 but he picked up momentum and played very well not only to handle the situation but also to win the game. His efforts come fruitful and he becomes the under 18 world Snooker Champion.
Peifan got good chances in sixth and seventh frames but Naseem played such a controlled game that Peifan could not avail the chances. In the seventh frame Naseem played two small but effective breaks to win the final. Although Naseem’s highest break in tournament is only 74 but his intelligent controlled game proved very successful.
In the semi final matches, Naseem defeated Israeli Amir Nardeia by 4-nill and Peifan defeated his compatriot Junjie Bo by 4-2.
Pakistan has won various snooker championship titles over last few years. Pakistani players showing some momentum for individual games. This momentum will definitely produce quality players for big tournaments like South Asian Games, Common Wealth Games and most importantly for Olympics games.
