Artificial Rain in Lahore – Successful Experiment

According to the Punjab government, the first experiment of artificial rain in Pakistan has been successful in Lahore with the help of the United Arab Emirates.

At a press conference last night, caretaker Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi said, “It was a gift from the UAE to us. Two of his special aircraft arrived 10-12 days ago, 48 flares were fired in the first flight. ‘

Mohsin Naqvi denied reports claiming that Rs. 350 million was spent for artificial rain in Lahore.

He said, “The news of 35 crores was fake… we did not spend anything special except spraying water.” Even if I had to spend, I would have because people’s lives are more important. ‘

Still, he said that this does not mean that it will get rid of smog. “The aim was to make the smog sit down due to rain, which lasts for five to seven days. ‘

Air pollution in Pakistan has increased significantly over the years. Lahore’s population of more than 10 million has been badly affected by toxic smog during the winter.

This has led to an increase in plutent microparticles such as PM2.5, which are added to the blood from the lungs and cause cancer. On Saturday, Lahore recorded its level more than 66 times the World Health Organization’s risk limit.

According to Air Now, the US-based air pollution measurement website, The Air Quality Index in Lahore is currently recorded at 306, which can have serious health effects.

‘Rain in 10 areas of Lahore’

Mohsin Naqvi said during his press conference that the UAE team had been waiting for the right conditions for several days for this test.

“Not a single cloud was visible for 10, 12 days. Even this morning, Lahore was the most polluted city in the world. It was not easy to experience. We, the UAE government, the president of the UAE, the federal government and the institutions all supported us. And then it was possible. ‘

He said that with this experiment, “10 areas near Lahore have received rain.” It’s light rain. Its effects will come soon. Rain has occurred at most places in Lahore. ‘

“This was Pakistan’s first test, and it has been successful. The UAE team planned one thing each. His result has come today. The federal government is also working on this technology. These people often do this in Dubai. There are thousands of missions annually in their country. ‘

“It was a gift from the UAE, and our people are involved. His special plane arrived 10, 12 days ago.

“It was an experience that was necessary for us to help prevent the upcoming smog. ‘

At the same time, he announced that smog towers will also be installed in the city “in the next few weeks or months.”

Regarding the experience of artificial rain, he said that cloud seeding will be done first in Shahdara and Muridke because clouds are coming toward Lahore, and it takes hours to make an impact. They have calculated one thing: where they will go and fire, which will affect the clouds and rain in Lahore. It’s a big technical job. ‘

During the press conference, Mohsin Naqvi was asked by a journalist how much difference it made in the air quality when he washed the roads in Lahore. Mohsin Naqvi replied, “Washing was going on a large scale at night… (The next day) in the morning, I checked, and we were at 250 at that time. These things make a difference, but we must take it below 100. They need to work. ‘

Denying the harmful effects of artificial rain, Mohsin Naqvi said that it has 1,000 missions annually in the UAE, and this technology is used worldwide, including in the United States. “If it was a cause of health problems, no country in the world would have used it. ‘
