Sultan Kosen’s Birth
Sultan Kosen is a Turkish farmer born on 10 December 1982. Sultan Kosen is the tallest living man in the world. He holds the Guinness World Record for tallest living male. Sultan Kosen’s height is 251 centimeter (8 feet 3 inches). Sultan Kosen’s unusual height is supposed to be resulted from a tumor affected his pituitary gland. Sultan Kosen cannot walk without the help of crutches.
Sultan Kosen in Guinness Book of World Record
Sultan Kosen’s standing height was measured by Guinness World Records on 25 August 2009. At that time his height was measured 246.4 cm (8 feet 1 inch). He broke the Guinness World Record of Bao Xishun who was the previous tallest male. Bao Xinshun height is 236 cm (7 feet 9 inches). Kosen also holds two other world records. He has largest hands in the world measured at 27.5 cm, and also has second largest feet at 36.5 cm and 35.5 cm. His left foot is 1 cm larger than right foot. On 25 August 2010, doctors confirmed the actual height of Kosen at 254.3 cm (8 feet 4 inches). It was considered that Kosen’s actual height was somewhat recorded lower because of his bad standing posture. On 9 February 2011 Guinness World Records revised the listed measurements of Sultan Kosen. His height remeasured at 251 cm (8 feet 3 inches) and hands remeasured at 28.5 cm (11.2 inches). So with revised measurements he broke his own previous world records.
Sultan Kosen’s Treatment
In 2010 University of Virginia Medical School arranged treatment for Sultan Kosen’s pituitary tumor. With Gamma Knife treatment Kosen’s unusual excessive growth was controlled to much extent. The complete treatment took 2 years to complete and proved much successful. Through this specific treatment his abnormal hormone levels were controlled and recorded almost normal. In march 2012 Kosen was re-examined and his treatment was considered much successful in controlling his abnormal height.
Sultan Kosen’s Life
Kosen’s Siblings consists of three brothers and two sisters. His all other family members have normal heights. Due to his unusual height Kosen could not complete his education and decided to work as a part time farmer. As other tall people state some advantages of being tall, Kosen also states that he can see far apart, can change light bulbs can clean objects at above normal height and various such type of other domestics tasks easily. He also states some drawbacks of being tall , unable to find clothes and shoes of his size, and also unable to sit easily in a normal car. He married to Syrian lady Merve Dibo in October 2013. He states communication problem in his marriage life because he speaks Turkish and Kurdish but his wife can only speaks Arabic.

He met with world’s shortest man Chandra Bahadur Dangi on 13 November 2014 at an event in London. This event was arranged as Guinness World Records Day. So first time both the tallest and the shortest men of the world were together at this event. Currently Kosen performs in various shows in a magic circus around the world. Director of this circus Bruno Loyale personally motivated Kosen to join the circus and participate in various shows.
